4 v 4 League Rules
Game Length:
All youth games will be played with two 15 minutes halves, and a 5 minute half time. Teams will have 5 minutes to warm up before the game begins. U8 and below will use a size 3 ball, U9 thru U12 will play with a size 4 ball, U13 and above, including adults will play with a size 5. Games are played with 3 field players and a goal keeper for 4 v 4, and 2 field players and a goalie for 3 v 3. A team must have a minimum of 2 players in order to start the game. Any team who cannot start a regularly scheduled game within 5 minutes of the start time will forfeit their game at the decision of the field marshal.
Rules of Play:
All rules will conform to FIFA rules of the game with the following exceptions. All kickoffs and restarts will be indirect. The only exceptions are fouls inside the box, and defensive play handballs outside of the box. Those two exceptions result in a Shoot out attempt beginning from the half line, and to score must cross the goal completly within 5 seconds. Intentional or flagrant fouls, at the referees disgression, will be given a yellow or red card due to the severity of the incident. A red card requires the immediated ejection from the game, and the following game, minimum. The league or tournament director, along with the two coaches, and referee will meet to determine if a longer suspension is in order. A yellow card carries an immediate substitution for the guilty player. That player may return as early as the next dead ball, or as the players coach determines adequate. Two yellow cards in one game results in a red card. All balls going out-of-bounds are restarted with a kick in from the spot were the ball went out of bounds. Balls going out-of-bounds off the defending team near their goalie box will be brought out to the PK dot. Goals may be scored from anywhere on the field by any player including the goal keeper. The only exception is after a controlled possession by the goalie, he or she only is able to score after the ball has left the goalie box. In 3 v 3 all goals must be scored from their attacking half. Goal keepers may use their hands inside their own box at any time during the game except when the ball is passed back to the goalie from a member of the goalies own team. No offsides will be called. Substitutions may be made on any dead ball by either team including out of bounds, fouls, or after a goal is scored. The referee must be notified and acknowledge the substitution before a new player may enter the field. If in the referees opinion substitutions are being made to slow the pace of the game or to kill time, the substitutions will not be allowed.
Decisions of the referee:
The referee will keep the official time and score on the field and all decisions of the referee are final. There will be no protests. See 4 v 4 rules link for a complete list of rules and terminology.
Equipment
No cleats are allowed. Goalies must wear a jersey of different color than that of his team or the opposing team. Shin guards are required. No jewelry allowed. No gum or candy allowed on the field.
Rosters: Rosters must have a minimum of 5 (4 for U13 and up) players and a maximum of 10 (8 for U13 and up). All participants must be on the team roster and have a signed medical waiver. The roster for each team participating in the league must be approved in advance by the league director. The use of a player who is not on the team roster or who has not been approved by the director will result in a forfeit for the team in violation.
